Post Election Encouragement

By Pastor John Brito

It seems that most individuals were surprised by the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. And whether you are cheering or feeling depressed by the outcome, I have some words of encouragement for you.

First, God is still in control. Psalms 22:28 says, ?because you are in control,?the ruler of all nations.? (CEV) Regardless of who?s president, we need to believe that God has the final word in the affairs of nations.

Second, we need to continue to pray for our leaders. No leader is smart enough to lead our country as they should. This is where prayer comes in. 1 Timothy 2:2-3 says, ?Pray for kings and others in power, so that we may live quiet and peaceful lives as we worship and honor God.?3?This kind of prayer is good, and it pleases God our Savior.? (CEV)

Third, as Christians we must continue doing Kingdom work. If we?re concerned about where our culture is headed, we must consider Jesus? plan to bring about change. He said in Matthew 28:19, ?Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.? (CEV) Making disciples of all nations, including the United States, brings people under the lordship of Christ. This in turn affects how they think and live and shifts their loyalty toward him, thus realizing positive change in our nation, one person at a time. This change is greater than that which any president can deliver.

I hope you found this helpful. What else would you add to this list?
