Who We Are
Our History
Spirit Life Community Church (SLCC) began as the English ministry of Iglesia Iberoamerica of the Assemblies of God, located in the city of Huntington Park. On March 18, 2007, SLCC was launched as a church plant of Iglesia Iberoamerica in the city of Downey, CA. with the express purpose of reaching second and third generation Hispanics for Christ. But in the process, SLCC became stronger by becoming a multicultural congregation.
Up until June 24, 2012, SLCC met at an elementary school in the city of Downey. This required a team to set up and tear down all of the sound equipment, instruments and multimedia gear at every service, as did the youth and children’s ministry. On July 7, 2012, however, SLCC moved to 15000 Studebaker Rd. Norwalk, CA. 90650 where it enjoyed a wonderful campus that included a sanctuary and ample classrooms for children, nursery and youth ministries.
On December 6, 2015 SLCC moved to its current location of 13246 Mapledale St. Norwalk, CA. 90650 where it now enjoys the use of a beautiful new building all day on Sundays. This will allow the church to start a Spanish service on Sunday afternoons and thus be able to share the Good News of Christ with more people.
Our mission is to bring God glory by equipping believers to faithfully share the life-changing message of Jesus Christ through loving and caring relationships.
Our Mission
We believe that SLCC exists for the following five purposes:
WORSHIP
It is the church’s highest purpose to worship God and bring him glory (Philippians 1:11; Ephesians 1:11-12; John 4:23-24; Romans 15:5-7).
DISCIPLESHIP
The church was commissioned by Jesus Christ to produce disciples, followers of Christ that are taught to be like Jesus and are equipped to serve and obey him (Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 9:23-24).
MISSION
Christ to participate in God’s mission of reconciling human beings to him. God’s mission is realized through the Kingdom, which is God’s dominion being exercised over human beings through the person and work of Jesus Christ that sets them free from the bondage of Satan, sin and the coming judgment. Believers are called to participate in the mission of God by sharing the good news of the Kingdom with others in practical and culturally relevant ways (Matthew 28:18-20; Matthew 10:5-8; Colossians 1:13; John 17:18).
FELLOWSHIP and MINISTRY
Upon believing in the Lord Jesus the Holy Spirit places us in the Body of Christ, his Church (1 Corinthians 12:12-13), to have fellowship with one another in order to love, encourage and serve each other (Acts 2:41-47; Colossians 3:12-17; Galatians 6:1-2; John 13:35-34). And as believers we are to meet regularly to worship God and for mutual edification (Hebrews 10:25). Furthermore, as a community of believers we are to use our spiritual gifts to minister to one other so as to cause each other to grow in our relationship with Christ. Moreover, we are called to extend into our community the loving and caring relationships being fostered within our congregation so that by building loving and caring relationships with those that do not yet know Jesus Christ we may be able to minister to and reach them for him. (Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Corinthians 9:20-21).

SLCC is a General Council church affiliated with the Assemblies of God, a fellowship of churches composed of over sixty million adherents worldwide.
Our Core Beliefs
- We believe the Scriptures are inspired by God and declare His design and plan for humankind.
- We believe that there is only one true God revealed in three persons…Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (commonly known as the Trinity); and we believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. As God’s son Jesus was both human and divine.
- We believe though originally good, humankind willingly fell to sin ushering evil and death, both physical and spiritual, into the world; and we believe that every person can have restored fellowship with God through salvation (accepting Christ’s offer of forgiveness for sin).
- We believe the baptism in the Holy Spirit is a special experience following salvation that empowers believers for witnessing and effective service, just as it did in New Testament times; we also believe the initial physical evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues as experienced on the Day of Pentecost and referenced throughout Acts and the Epistles.
- We believe divine healing of the sick is a privilege for Christians today and is provided for in Christ’s atonement (His sacrificial death on the cross for our sins).
- We believe in the blessed hope when Jesus raptures his church prior to his return to earth (the second coming). At this future moment in time all believers who have died will rise from their graves and will meet the Lord in the air, and Christians who are alive will be caught up with them, to be with the Lord forever.
