What’s in Your Hand?

By Pastor John Brito

God will use ordinary things within our grasp to bring about great victories. For David it was a sling and a stone. 1 Samuel 17:49 says, “And David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone and slung it and struck the Philistine on his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the ground.” (ESV)

For Moses it was his staff. Exodus 14:21 tells us that “Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the Lord opened up a path through the water with a strong east wind. The wind blew all that night, turning the seabed into dry land.” (NLT)

For Elijah it was his cloak. 2 Kings 2:8 says that “Elijah took his cloak and rolled it up and struck the water, and the water was parted to the one side and to the other, till the two of them could go over on dry ground.” (ESV)

What’s in your hand? Is it an idea, a guitar, a tool, a microphone, a laptop or a business plan? It may seem ordinary, but that which God has put within your grasp is an instrument through which he can bring about great victories. Wield it in faith and see what happens.
